School Policies

  • To encourage a safe and productive learning environment, please adhere to the following school policies while at Eagle River Elementary.

School Visitors and Volunteers

  • We are excited to continue to open our doors to approved volunteers at Eagle River Elementary!

To volunteer at our school, the first step is filling out a volunteer application online by going to asdk12.org/volunteer or by clicking the link below. After submitting your application, approvals take anywhere from 3-10 business days and are not completed at the school level. Once approved, please check with your child's teacher or the front office staff for volunteer opportunities. You may also visit ASD's Community Volunteer page for information about types of opportunities, requirements, and more.

Student and Staff Messages

  • Students and staff are not able to come to the office to receive phone calls while school is in session. We will happily relay messages to staff and students. This will minimize disruptions in our classrooms. Families are encouraged to reach out to teachers via email during normal school hours with questions or concerns.

Please communicate with your student before leaving about how s/he will be getting home at the end of the day. If there is a change to the plan, please call our office before 3:00. It can be very difficult to get important information to students and staff at the last minute. We want to avoid confusion and be certain your child gets home safely.

Weather and Emergency School Closure Information

  • In the case of school closure for incliment weather or other emergencies, families will be notified via email. To ensure families receive these notifications, please make sure your information is current and up-to-date on Emergency notices will also appear on a banner at the top of the main ASD webpage. Please use this link for information about our procedures for weather and emergency school closures. This link will take you to the ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø School District page outlining our procedures for weather and emergency closures. You will also find information about how to receive information about school closures.

ASD Attendance Policies

  • Regular and timely attendance is critical for your student's academic success. If your student is going to be absent from school, please call our office at (907) 742-3000. Select the attendance line to excuse them from school and to avoid receiving an automatic attendance phone call. Calls must be placed no later than 10:00am to ensure adequate time to update your student's attendance. When leaving a voicemail on our attendance line, make sure to include your student's name, teacher, the date(s) of absence, and the reason for their absence. Qualifying reasons for absences will be excused. However, voicemails that leave no reason at all will always be marked as unexcused. Please follow the link to the ºÚ¶´ÉçÇø School District website for more detailed information about attendance policies.
